RedSpeed™ is a UK Home Office approved  (Click here to view) digital enforcement system, designed to deter speed and/or red light violations.

RedSpeed™ operates using digital technology and therefore requires no film. Unmanned fixed equipment is installed at the roadside where traffic violations are automatically detected by the system.

When a violation occurs, the RedSpeed™ system takes three digital images. A zoom shot is taken showing the vehicle license plate, then a wide angle shot showing make, model and colour. Finally, after a short delay dependant on vehicle speed, a third image is taken showing that the offending vehicle is in motion at the time of offence.

Along with digital images of the offence taking place, the RedSpeed™ system will record data that is relevant to the specific location and offence. 

The images are encrypted and then stored, ready to be sent to the central computer. 

A key benefit to the RedSpeed™ system is its versatility. Various settings can be controlled and adjusted by the end user including:

Red Light Violation Enforcement System

This system is used to monitor vehicles at a traffic signal junction.

When the signal turns red and an adjustable preset delay has passed the unit is activated. Inductive loops buried within the road surface will then detect any vehicle that crosses them during this time.

The SpeedCurb™ system measures the speed at which a vehicle goes through a monitored section of road. By using Piezo sensors buried within the road surface the system can continuously observe traffic simultaneously across up to four lanes.

Other forms of speed detection can be utilised on overseas models.

Additional Features

• RedSpeed Plug & Play - Removable Processor Module for Red Light and Speed Enforcement.
• Video Server – This feature allows for a short video clip (adjustable up to 12 seconds) of a violation.
• Vehicle Classification – This allows for differentiation between different types of vehicles.
• Twin Headed System – Allows for the monitoring of up to four lanes of traffic, either in one direction or two directions simultaneously, all from one installation.
• Front Photography - Utilising a separate camera head deployed in conjunction with the site, images of the offending vehicles driver can be taken.

Encryption

The data captured by the RedSpeed™ system is encrypted in compliance with Triple DES or AES 12 Standards. This provides security for evidence in conviction cases as the data cannot be altered by unauthorised observers.

Transmission

Traditional products that use wet film (35mm) require manual collection and so may be delayed. Traditional wet film evidence can also be spoiled or lost if left for a period of time and are always susceptible to damage from vandalism to the equipment at site.

By using digital technology, RedSpeed™ International can provide an immediate solution. The data collected by the system can be transmitted across a network within seconds of the offence occurring.

This incorporates all the facilities of the separate RedSpeed™ RedGuard™ and SpeedCurb™ systems.

• Removable hard disc for onsite storage of violations (or)
• Automatic transfer of offence information to Instation for storage on WORM disk or removable medium ( UK version)
• Capable of monitoring offences from two separate camera heads into one Outstation
• Ability to connect to Automatic Number Plate Recognition (overseas version)
• Capable of capturing violations from the Front and/or Rear of vehicles (overseas version)
• Unique Flash facility that allows near simultaneous capture of violations

RedSpeed32™ software is designed to run on a PC with Microsoft Windows operating system. It provides central control and management of the system, with its intuitive graphical user interface the user can be up and running in minutes.
The following functions are available:

• Automatic retrieval of violation images and data from the roadside and storage in a local database (overseas version)
• Remote communications with site to modify operational parameters – for example, time into red
• Viewing and printout of captured violations
• Built-in image enhancement features such as brightness and contrast
• Connection to Automatic Number Plate Recognition (overseas version)
• Multi User Interface – With the use of a file server, multiple users can view and amend file configuration.
• Statistical data retrieval from camera site including :

• Total vehicle count
• Number of violations
• Speed Profiles (histogram of average vehicle over time period)
