Roadworks

RedSpeed Cameras enforce safe speeds during motorway roadworks.

Contractors appointed by the Highways Agency to work on a 16 week project on the M62 Rakewood Viaduct have selected RedSpeed cameras to enforce safe speeds through the roadwork zone for the duration of the project.

In 2000 it was reported (by TRL) that 1500 people were killed or injured in some 800 accidents that occurred at roadworks on the UK's motorways and trunk roads.  With such unacceptably high figures much work has been done to improve the safety and wellbeing of people working in the roads.  Safety camaeras are now a common feature of roadwork sites.  RedSpeed's digital safety cameras transmit data directly from the site to a back office so engineers are not required to visit the site to change film, making the cameras a safer option.

For longer stretches of roadworks it is anticipated that RedFusion multi point to multi point cameras will soon be available to enforce average speeds.
